Jake is my little love...
Sent from Heaven above.
For Goodness sake, I love my Jake
Jake is my little love!

That's the song I've been singing Jake these days. You know if you search for "Henry" songs on iTunes, there are a bunch but only one Jake song -- "If I die before I wake, feed Jake." It's a country song about a dog. Not really something I want to sing my baby. Great Grandma, Gigi, calls Jake "Little Love". I thought it was cute, so I made up a song. Anyway, I took Jake in for his 6 month wellness visit. Here are his stats: 18 1/2 lbs. (70%) and 26 1/2 inches long (55%) .
When Jake was born everyone said he looked a lot like me. A bit refreshing since Henry is "Mini-Matt". As the months go by more and more people are saying Jake looks like Henry. You be the judge.
Definitely brothers, right?

Jake knows how to roll back to front and front to back. But every night, I lay him down on his back and lately he's been waking up screaming because he's rolled himself over onto his tummy and can't remember how to roll back over. And he won't sleep on his stomach, so he screams. Very frustrating for him, and for me.

I've started giving him a half a jar of baby food and 1 tbs of barley cereal in one of the 6 bottles he drinks a day. He still isn't keen on eating from a spoon but we're working on that.

He can sit up for a few minutes now before tumbling to the side or forward. He can also sit in a high chair at restaurants now. He loves the baby B'jorn and his silky, which is a soft blanket he rubs on his face when he's tired.

We just got his 6 month portraits taken. These are my favorites. He's SO cute!

What’s Up Doc?
We went to Victoria to visit Gram Mellie and Grandpa Bob. I was supposed to be at Amy’s bachelorette party but wasn’t feeling up to drinking and partying. I suddenly couldn’t eat anything. It hurt too bad to swallow. For over a week I suffered down just a few bites a day until I could get into the GI doctor and see what’s up. Come to find out, I have ulcers on my esophagus. Crazy! Anyway, I’m on some good medicine now and can wolf down even the spiciest Mexican food with no problem.

We took Jake on his first plane ride to Cousin Amy’s wedding in Lake Tahoe. Both boys were absolutely wonderful travelers and looked precious in their ties.

The following weekend, we went to Boerne for the reception. This was the perfect excuse to buy Jake and Henry matching western shirts. Doesn't Matt look hot in his cowboy hat? Yee-haw, honey!

Just before that trip, Matt had Lasik surgery on his eyes. Now he sees better than 20/20. As soon as we got back from Boerne he had ankle surgery to remove scar tissue, bone spurs and tighten the ligaments. He’s had a bunch of ankle injuries (mostly basketball-related) since high school, so it was time to get all that fixed.

Henry is back on the potty-training wagon. Remember, we made a trial run when he was right at 2 years old, then we sold the house, moved, had a baby and then things snowballed with my ulcers, Matt’s eyes and ankle. Anyway, things are calm now and he’s doing great. I read that “Potty-training in One Day” book and had a big potty party for Henry. We had a small set-back last Sunday when the toilet seat came slamming down on his pee-pee. He's fine now and, surprisingly, not at all scared of the toilet.

Jake is 6months old now and has grown so much. Not sure how much he weighs. We’re going to his 6-month wellness visit next week. I got some adorable new pics of our little guy and can’t wait to upload those. They will be ready next week, so check back soon.
