Henry 0-5 yrs (above) and Kindergarten pic (left)

Our Kindergartener ~

Henry started Kindergarten this past August and LOVES his school! I'm so happy because it took us 2 1/2 years to get him in this school.

We got him on the list right when we moved to Preston Hollow which put us at #76. They only take 44 but we were reassured along the way that people will drop off the list, not test well or be held back based on their birthday. Anyway, he got in - so did 6 of his friends and they all ended up in his class! (Well, all but 1 but we were thrilled!)

His teachers are Ms. Clark and Ms. Martinez. He wears a uniform everyday and is on the school's kindergarten soccer team. The last game is tonight and then Henry will start tennis lessons. His favorite class friends are Oliver, Liam and Kieron.

Henry's 6th Birthday ~
Lego Land opened last spring about 30 minutes from our house. We got a season pass and have taken the boys a number of times. Henry's favorite part is building a race car, racing it down this track then modifying it and racing again. At Lego Land, this will occupy Henry for at least an hour. So when his birthday rolled around, it was a no-brainer to have a Lego Racing party.

Henry invited all the boys in his class, plus a couple of other friends and cousins, of course. Each boy was given a Lego race car to assemble, then Matt and I made a track. We also had a Lego Pinata (mama made that), and some cupcakes with Lego brick candy on top.

Most of the boys gave Henry Lego kits so he's been in Lego heaven for the past month!
He also loves Transformers, Bakugans, daddy's iPad and Star Wars right now.
Last-minute getaway ~
Matt and I were invited to Katie's wedding in Cabo, Mexico. We've been on a lot of trips this summer and there's been a lot of drama with Matt's work, so we weren't going to go. Then last minute we booked it. So glad we did because it was A-MAZING! Probably one of the best trips we been on.

The airline tickets were crazy expensive so my mom said we should stay a few extra days to make it worth while - genius! We relaxed at this beautiful resort from Tuesday to Friday. Then hooked up with the wedding party at a different hotel Friday to Sunday.

Since it was low-season, we basically had the pool to ourselves. Afternoon snack - chips and guacamole ... everyday - yum!

This was our favorite spot to lounge. It ended up being the perfect spot --
baby turtles hatched right below us! We released them into the ocean.

After that 3-day side trip, we moved to the wedding resort - an all-inclusive, 2-day, party.

It Wouldn't be Summer Without Family Trips!
Matt saved up a few vacation weeks and since Jake is now walking (running), talking, and potty-trained, we took full advantage!

First was a good 'ol fashion road trip. Two other families tagged along as we headed to our favorite kid-friendly resort, The Westin in San Antonio.

With buddies in tow, our boys were entertained, which means mommy and daddy could relax a bit.

When the Texas heat really started beating down we took off for the "snowy mountains", as Jake so fondly calls them now. The Bryarly Family Trip to Lake Tahoe!

After our cooling-off trip, we headed to the Texas Gulf Coast for the Hughs Family Trip. The short ones agree: there are few things more fun than sand and cousins!

Our fun was interupted when Cousin William rolled his Jeep. We are SO blessed Mike and William are okay. Willie now has two giant scars as a reminder on how lucky they are.
