Skush-skushIt's hard getting a 3-year-old to smile on demand. Henry gets annoyed with "say cheese" pretty fast, so before we got to Target (great deal on pics BTW), I asked him what his favorite silly words were. "Skush-skush" -- meaningless jargon he and Taylor made up, and "Ooey, ooey, blue, goo" a line from a Dr. Suess book. Instead of "cheese", I'd just say one of these phrases and he'd laugh. Or at least grin.
I gave Henry a catalog of Halloween costumes and told him to pick one. All his favorites were in there – Thomas, Spiderman, Batman, Cars. I was surprised when he picked Darth Vador because I didn’t know he liked Star Wars that much. I said, “Isn’t Darth Vadora bad guy?” I was quickly corrected with, “ No, mama – Darth Vador is a good guy.” I was sure he’d change his mind, I mean it was late September and he had a whole month to think about it. No wavering though. He really wanted to be Darth Vador, so it only made sense that Jakey was Yoda. It turned out so cute. Kudos to Henry ~

Jake is almost crawling. He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. He’s been doing this for a few weeks now so I think we’re close. Speaking from experience, stationary babies are easier. I’m sure my next post will be utter excitement that our Jakers is on the move, but until then I like setting him down, walking away, knowing he’s not going anywhere. And did I mention what a great napper he is? When he gets fussy or starts rubbing his eyes, I know that’s the cue he’s ready for a nap. I just lay him down with his silky and pacifier and his eye roll back as soon as his head hits the pillow. I used to rock Henry like 30 or 45 minutes before naps and bedtime. Jake’s not into that. He’ll arch his back and scream, telling me he just wants his bed. Love that!

Now we’ve digressed on nighttime. He was 9 pm to 2 am then 5 am. Then it was 7 pm to 5:30 am. Now it’s 7pm to midnight, 2am, 5am, 7am….not loving that! He goes right back to sleep but being jolted out of my warm bed just to replace a pacifier or make a bottle is a drag. I shouldn’t complain though. He’s a great baby and I’m sure this is just a phase. In fact, we had a great night last night 8pm to 5:30 am. And he says "mama" now :)
Since the horns were ranked #1, we wanted to take the boys to a game. Bad idea! We look like we're having fun, but the game hasn't started yet. Henry said he wanted to go home 15 minutes after kick-off, so we got him a slushi. He was happy for another 45 minutes, but we ended up leaving in the 3rd quarter.Matt and I went to a Halloween party with our friends Pete and Amy. The party was the Friday before Super Tuesday, hence my costume. Matt's -- well, I just think any guy in a mustach is funny.
