If I told you Jake turned into a big boy over night, you wouldn't believe me. But he did. We'd been working on potty training since September. He was about 50-50 on keeping his pants dry but resisted cheers, songs, bribes and reason when it came to #2. We even resorted to taking paci away when he had a poo accident. And he LOVES his paci. Anytime he was hurt, sad or just tired we'd hear, "Where's paci?" in his whinny, sing-song voice. But that didn't work either - he still had accidents.
That is until he turned 3. It's been almost a month since his birthday and I am happy to report he is potty trained! He runs to the potty on his own and can even stay dry through nap. Speaking of nap...
We had told Jake for months, "When you turn 3, no more paci." On his birthday morning, while distracted with new toys, Matt gathered up all his pacifiers, then I buried them in the trash when Jake wasn't looking. Later when he asked, "Where's paci?" I quickly replied, "Oh! I guess the paci fairy came and took them. But you're 3 now and big boys don't need pacies, right?" He asked a couple more times that day, and then it was done.
Everyone says he has so much personality, which you can see in the pics below. He's our little ham. He makes us laugh everyday with his enthusiasm.
He can be a little too enthusiastic at times, like first thing in the morning. If he doesn't get to feed Shack, get the newspaper or help mommy get the blueberries out of the freezer, elephant tears. Pirate PJs were in the wash tonight - elephant tears. Henry swipes his toy - elephant tears. Jake can go from screaming happy to screaming sad in seconds. He's great at school, running errands and even when I have to leave him with someone. At home though, he's a bit dramatic. "Shake it off - you're a tough guy" worked with Henry but Jake wants love, attention and when all else fails - silky. He LOVES his blue silky blankets. Sometimes he'll have 6 or 8 of them in bed at one time. The only thing he might love more is Henry.
