I knew it had been a while since my last post. When I pulled up my blog and Jake's 4th birthday pics loaded, I panicked! We just celebrated his 5th birthday. Have I really not entered a post, made a comment or added a pic in an entire year!? After a few minutes of searching, I finally realized Facebook has replaced this blog for documenting life. But I can't do away with my digital scrapbook - this forum means too much to me. My babies grew up here! So here is where my babies will stay. Facebook is more about me, my honey, us with the kids. A day-to-day snapshot, if you will. This is where I chronicle our life -- the holidays and seasons, the months and the years. So here goes - 2012...
CKS Sports
Reluctantly, we put Jake back in soccer this spring. He was on the Firecrackers last fall and did okay. Not sure he ever got his foot on the ball that first season, but it was his first time, so no biggie. Second season should be way better, right? Not really - Jake thought he could use "the force" to get the ball into the goal. While all his friends were in a pack, hovering over the ball trying to kick it, then running as a group with the ball with all efforts focused on making a goal, Jake was always the lone ranger. Off to the side, sometimes way off, with his arms stretched out in a Star Wars "choker hold". You could see his giant imagination willing that ball into the goal. Meanwhile, Matt and I are screaming on the sidelines "Jake! Run! Kick the ball!" Jake will be sitting out next season for obvious reasons.
I can't believe GG has been with us 3 years in July (2012)! While she turned 90 on April 8th, I swear she's aging backwards. We brought her to Dallas in the summer of 2009 because she was in-and-out of the hospital 4 times that yea. Being so far from Dallas made it hard to manage her health. The first year here was one doctor's appointment after another. She also had a mild stroke recently but has fully recovered. I'd say she's stronger now than before the stroke. She does exercises everyday and is very happy to be near her family. The stimulation has proven to be the best medicine.
EASTER

Henry's summer camps included VBS, Music Lacross and Fencing.
Jake's camps: VBS, Club Scientific -Jurassic Camp and Dolphin swim lessons.

MEMORIAL DAY 2012:

We returned to Galveston again this summer. Mimi and Pop rented a giant beach house. Enough beds for our whole family = 17.
Roadtrip
We invited some CKS friends to Victoria. Zoo, Shiner Brewery tour, BBQ, convertible joy rides, swimming, camp fires and great friends = fun trip!
Minneapolis Trip
Highlight for the boys was watching Austin jump off his garage onto the trampoline. We WILL NOT try this at home!

We made a pass through Austin on our way home for Lego Fest where the boys won a bridge building competition. They were absolutely thrill! It was so much fun, I decided to start a Lego club at Henry school. And since I started it, Jake gets to come too!
HENRY - 1ST GRADE
Check out the smile on Henry's face - I think he likes it!
JAKE - Preschool
Jake is back at Northway Christian Day school going 5 days a week from 9-noon. (And one day until 3 to give mommy a break.)
HALLOWEEN 2012
In case you can't tell, Henry is a ninja. He really just wanted an excuse to buy nun-chucks. Jake is a skeleton. He wanted the super-scary zombie looking skeleton but that one only came in adult sizes.
Christmas 2012
Looking a little big for Santa's lap ~
